Doors that won't budge, fixed before lunch.

Hyvora is a small bench of fitters and welders who have spent the last decade fixing the awkward bits of London property — sticking patio doors, dropped fire doors, broken espagnolette locks, the lot. We arrive on the same day, quote in writing before we touch anything, and back the work for a year.

What we fix

Six trades under one van, none of them new to us

From sliding patio sets that have eaten their rollers to grade-30 fire doors that need re-hung, every job is handled by an engineer who fits this specific kind of hardware every working week.

Behind the toolbox

Eleven years on, still the same workshop in Hackney.

Eilan Brogan started Hyvora out of a garage in E8 in 2014, after a decade of fitting commercial shopfronts across the City. The bench has grown to a team of seven, but every quote still passes his eye and every van still leaves with the same boxed inventory of OEM bits — Roto, Era, Briton, Yale, Geze. We don't mark up parts, we don't carry sub-contractors, and we don't believe a single visit should ever turn into three.

Most of our work today comes from word of mouth, letting agents who got tired of unreliable trades, and Hackney landlords who want their fire-door inspections done quietly and to the regulation. That suits us — we'd rather build a long file of repeat work than chase the next postcode.

"If we can fix it on the first visit, we will. If we can't, you'll know why before we leave the kerb."
— Eilan Brogan, founding engineer

Why pick Hyvora

Four habits we won't break

A small workshop has the luxury of doing things the long way round. We use it.

Quote before we work

A photo and a description gets you a written estimate inside two hours. No surprises when the invoice lands.

OEM parts, traced

Every roller, hinge or stay we fit comes with the original part code on the receipt — so you can replace like-for-like a decade from now.

One engineer, one job

Whoever quotes you turns up to fit it. No hand-offs to a sub-contractor we've never met.

Twelve-month cover

If a part we fitted gives way inside a year, we replace it and re-attend at no charge. Including the call-out fee.

What clients tell us after the van pulls away

★★★★★

"Patio sliders had been sticking for two years. Three previous quotes were all £1,200 plus. Eilan ground the track, fitted four new Roto rollers and a brush seal — done in under three hours, charged me a fraction of that, and the door slides one-handed now."

Marisa T.Highbury N5

★★★★★

"Quarterly fire-door inspection picked up four flats with non-compliant flush bolts and missing intumescent seals. Hyvora put it right inside a fortnight, kept tenants informed, sent the certs straight to the managing agent. Painless."

Owen H.Block management, Whitechapel E1

★★★★★

"Shower screen had been crashing into the basin for weeks. They diagnosed a failed pivot hinge over WhatsApp, brought the right one first time, no fuss. The follow-up email with the part code was a nice touch."

Common questions

Things people ask before booking

  1. How fast can you actually be on site?

If you call before 11am on a weekday, we will almost always have someone with you the same afternoon. Saturday slots fill earliest in the week — book by Wednesday if you can. Bank-holiday emergencies are charged at our weekday rate; we don't trade on inconvenient timing.

  2. Do I need to know what's wrong before I call?

No. Most callers describe the symptom — the door scrapes, the lock won't throw, the window has dropped — and we ask a couple of follow-up questions and request two phone photos. That's nearly always enough to bring the right parts on the first visit.

  3. Will you work with insurance claims?

Routinely. Around a fifth of our work each month comes through home insurers and managing agents. We can quote in their preferred format, photograph the damage with timestamps, and invoice the insurer directly once the claim is approved.

  4. What if my door turns out to be too far gone?

We tell you on day one. If a frame is rotten beyond repair or a sliding system has been discontinued, we'll explain the options — replacement, retrofit, or a temporary fix to buy you time — and you'll only be charged the call-out, never a full repair invoice.

  5. Are you certified for fire-door work?

Yes. Our two senior engineers hold the FDIS Inspector qualification and we issue compliant inspection certificates that satisfy section 156 of the Building Safety Act and the Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022. We can carry out the inspection and the remedial work in a single visit.

  6. What does a typical visit cost?

The call-out is £74 inside Zones 1–3 and £92 outside. Anything beyond that is itemised on a fixed-price quote you approve before we work. Most single repairs land between £140 and £380, all in.

  7. Do you cover commercial properties?

About a third of our calendar is commercial: shopfront patches, hotel guest-room doors, restaurant grilles, school casement servicing. We're insured to £5m public liability and we'll work nights or early mornings if a customer-facing space needs it.

Ready when you are.

Tell us what's broken — we will come back inside two hours with a written quote and an honest timing window.
